Food

Organizing all of our food: we divided our food into bags for each day. Then we repackaged most of it so that everything would fit into our bear canisters (the blue cylinder in the middle).

Tiny Plane

After (our almost missed) connection from DC to LA, we got on the plane to fly to Merced, CA. It was a bit smaller than I've flown on before: there were only nine seats total.

My Gear

All of my gear for the hike. In the back is my camera equipment, jetboil stove, and maps and other documents (permits, reservations, etc). In the middle are my clothes. In the front, my backpack (Osprey Aether 70), trekking poles, sleeping pad (red cylinder), tent (green bag), sleeping bag (black), and the now-full bear canister. All together (with a full water bladder and full bear canister), I think I carried almost 60 lbs. It was manageable, but I will definitely look to reduce what I carry in the future.
